How to Make Homemade Sushi Rolls
- Preparing the rice: Rinse the rice in cold water until the water runs clear. Then, cook the rice with an equal amount of water on low heat with the lid on until it's done (about 15-20 minutes). Do not remove the lid while cooking.
- In a separate bowl, mix the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt. Add this mixture to the cooked rice and gently mix it in. Let the rice cool to room temperature.
- Preparing the filling: Cut the fish, avocado, and cucumber into thin strips.
- Assembling the rolls: Place a sheet of nori on a sushi mat. Evenly spread a layer of rice on it, leaving about 1 cm of nori at the top without rice. Place strips of fish, avocado, and cucumber on the rice.
- Using the sushi mat, carefully roll up the roll, starting from the side where the filling is placed. Make sure the roll is tightly rolled.
- Cutting the rolls: Wet a sharp knife with water and cut the roll into portions. Repeat the process with the remaining ingredients.
- Serving: Serve the sushi with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger.
