How to Make Russian Honey Cake
- In a saucepan, combine honey, sugar, and butter. Put it on low heat and, stirring constantly, bring it to a boil.
- When the mixture starts to boil, add the baking soda and mix well. Remove from heat and let it cool.
- When the mixture cools down to room temperature, add the eggs and flour. Knead the dough.
- Divide the dough into 8 equal parts. Roll out each part into a thin layer and bake in the oven at 180 degrees Celsius (356 degrees Fahrenheit) for about 5-7 minutes.
- While the layers are cooling, prepare the cream. For this, mix the condensed milk and butter until smooth.
- When the layers have cooled, spread them with cream and stack them on top of each other. Leave the cake for several hours (or overnight) to soak.
- Before serving, the cake can be sprinkled with powdered sugar or crumbs from the remaining layers.
